Gustavo Cuellar is close to being sold by Al-Hilal according to the journalist Fabrizio Romano, who specializes in the transfer market. The athlete is about to sign with Real Salt Lake, an MLS outfit.

According to the journalist, Cuellar is considered by the board of Real Salt Lake as a key piece for the club's project, which is prepared to turn the athlete into its most expensive signing in history. The amounts, however, were not revealed.

Gustavo Cuellar has been with Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal since 2019 when he was purchased from Flamengo. Since then, the Colombian midfielder has been on the field on 77 occasions, having won the 2020 Saudi Premier League title.

It is estimated that Cuellar has accepted the contractual conditions proposed by his new team and that it is only a matter of days before he travels for medical tests.

The player is in Colombia's training camp for the World Cup qualifiers

The Colombian national team is about to face round 16 of the qualifiers for the World Cup in Qatar, where its opponent will be Argentina at the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium in Cordoba.

One of the most important news expected in the starting line-up will be the return of Gustavo Cuellar, who was absent against Peru due to yellow card suspension.

The frontline midfielder would thus be joining his fifth team, having previously played for Flamengo in Brazil, Junior and Deportivo Cali in Colombia.

If his arrival in the United States is confirmed, he would be the only Colombian on Real Salt Lake's roster, since, at the moment, the team does not have any Colombian players on its roster.
