“Chicharito” is close to return to El Tri, but not everyone is happy about it

During an interview for ESPN, Vela said that, even though he is aware that he still has a couple more years playing at a high level, he knows it’s time for him to step down from Mexico National Team in order to give the younger generations a chance to play for El Tri.

Although he wished to be part of the squad that reached the quarterfinals on a World Cup, he knows that he can no longer contribute to El Tri, and that the new generations have everything to play the fifth game in a World Cup if given the opportunity.

Was his message intended for current El Tri players?

It’s widely known that there’s players in the current roster that Martino calls for every game El Tri plays that can’t contribute anymore and that their time already passed, like Andrés Guardado or Guillermo Ochoa, but they grasp to El Tri given the economic boost they receive, not caring about the chances they’re taking away from younger players.
