Edson Álvarez is a Mexican soccer player who can play as a defender or as a midfielder. He emerged from América's youth academy and made his debut in the Copa on August 4, 2016, playing 57 minutes against Mineros de Zacatecas, with the home team winning 2-1.

Teams that have wanted to sign Edson Álvarez

According to The Sun, in 2019 Crystal Palace and West Ham were interested in 'Machin', who ended up migrating to Ajax. Now again they have him in their sights and would be willing to pay £20 million for his letter, around 24 million euros.

In 2021 Stade Rennes offered €20 million and the offer did not convince the Ajax board. The Dutch side paid €15 million for Alvarez in 2019 and he is under contract until June 2025 and has become an undisputed starter for Erik ten Hag.
