And after the exhibition El Tri players gave against Costa Rica National Team, the criticism to their lack of effort and the system in which they play began once again, as they’re obviously responsible for the bad results, but also is Gerardo “Tata” Martino, who claimed to be as responsible as them, mainly because he’s the one taking decisions.

Christian Martinoli, TV Azteca commentator, didn’t hold back and compared Martino’s Tri with the one that was coached by José Manuel de la Torre for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and even decided to call Martino the “new Chepo”.

Why did he compare Martino to “Chepo”?

When De la Torre was coaching El Tri during the World Cup Qualifiers for Brazil, Mexico National Team showed one of the worst versions on recent history, as they couldn’t secure a spot to the 2014 FIFA World Cup directly. They had to dispute the playoffs against New Zealand.
