Everyone questioned the system that Juan Carlos Osorio implemented during his tenure as Mexico National Team coach, from fans to analysts, but this coach revealed that even some players weren’t fond about Osorio’s rotations.

Guillermo Ochoa was the main detractor of the Colombian coach, and he even had confrontations with one of his assistant coaches, Pompilio Páez, who ended up leaving El Tri after the failure of Mexico in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
“Ochoa was the most difficult player to manage as he didn’t like the rotation system that Osorio implemented”, Páez said in an interview. “Chicharito and even Carlos Vela were easier to deal with, as we managed to get them back to play with El Tri.”

Páez claims that the third game Mexico played during the World Cup in Russia against Sweden could have ended up with a different score if Ochoa didn’t refuse to leave his spot in the starting XI convincing other players to join him and leaving benched the footballers that were more apt for the game.
