No one should be surprised to hear that Marcelo Bielsa is one of the greatest coaches that has passed through the Mexican soccer, after he helped restructuring Atlas Academy, which impulse players like Rafael Márquez, Pavel Pardo or Jared Borgetti.

During his short tenure in Mexico, he also coached Club América, but his stint with the team ended in an abrupt rupture that made “El Loco” Bielsa leave Mexican soccer. Although he was only a year with the team, his instructions helped young players like Germán Villa build an outstanding career.

And for Bielsa, the best goalkeeper that Mexico has ever produced was Oswaldo Sánchez, whom he trained during his stint with Atlas. Sánchez has claimed multiple times that the Argentinean coach always told him he had the skills and abilities to become the greatest Mexican goalkeeper that played for Mexico.

Marcelo Bielsa has always defended that the best goalkeeper is the one that know how to play with their feet, not only with their hands, something that the ex-goalkeeper and now soccer analyst was an expert when he was on the pitch.
