Gerardo “Tata” Martino might be having his last minutes as Mexico National Team coach if he doesn’t manage to earn 7 out of the 9 possible games, after the disappointing results El Tri had last year, when they couldn’t beat USMNT and even lost against Canada.

But if Martino doesn’t manage to beat at least two of El Tri rivals and draw against the other -Mexico National Team visits Jamaica and then receives Costa Rica and Panama-, Mexican Football Federation already has his replacement.

Although he recently signed with CF Pachuca, Guillermo Almada would be up to the challenge of becoming El Tri coach, after having a successful stint with Santos Laguna and now with Pachuca, showing he knows how Mexican soccer works.

Guillermo Almada was Santos Laguna manager from 2019 to 2021, and he was the reason behind Carlos Acevedo’s success, as he trusted the homegrown player to become the starter goalkeeper for Santos, something he’ll repeat in Mexico National Team.
