After a breakout season in 2019 when Chivas send him to Club León on a 1-year loan, José Juan Macías scored 19 goals and assisted 3 times in 40 games, something that placed the Mexican striker as one of the most promising players in Liga MX.

He pushed to try his luck in Europe and the opportunity came from Getafe, a team that was building up to avoid relegation in La Liga, something that would benefit him as they needed all the help they could get, something he hasn’t been able to do and now, after Getafe acquired Borja Mayoral, he’s set to not see any other minute on the pitch.

Getafe is already negotiating his departure from the club, and Ligue 1 might be his destination, as OSC Lille, a team that was also interested in signing him before he joined La Liga side, has asked about the Mexican striker. His future could be decided in the next few days.

The 22-year-old striker arrived in La Liga this season during the summer transfer window on a 1-year loan from Chivas, but he hasn’t been part of Quique Sánchez plans, as he’s only played a total of 221 minutes in 8 games. He’s been left out of the squad on 10 games.
