A lot has been said about Mexico National Team and their current performances after a disappointing 2021 where they weren’t able to beat the USMNT and jeopardized El Tri’s participation in Qatar, something that Gerardo “Tata” Martino is trying to change for the upcoming matches.

And as part of his plan, he already called a lot of young players for the last 2021 game, a friendly match against Chile National Team where players like Marcelo Flores and Israel Reyes had their debuts with Mexico’s senior squad.

But Julián Araujo’s call to El Tri was another surprise, as he previously played with US Soccer Academy teams, and even debuted with USMNT in a friendly match against El Salvador back in 2020. His presence with El Tri didn´t sit well with Andrés Guardado, and it could even make him quit from playing for El Tri again.

Why Guardado doesn’t want Araujo in El Tri?

Guardado previously had conditioned his participation with Mexico National Team when “Tata” Martino decided to call Rogelio Funes Mori, as he think footballers that have played for a different national team don’t have place in El Tri.
