A lot has been said about the recurrent absence of Carlos Vela with Mexico National Team, even though he’s one of the most prolific Mexican strikers and the lack of goals is something that characterized El Tri during the last year.

He stopped attending the calls after an alleged discussion he had with Gerardo “Tata” Martino, as the Argentinean coach prohibited the players to leave the hotel and their families to attend trainings, but the real reason has more to do with a fight he had with starting goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.

After the infamous party Mexican players had in Monterrey in 2010 before returning to their clubs, Carlos Vela was one of the most perjured players that attended said party. Ochoa, who also attended the party, was protected by Televisa, but rumors says that he snitched Vela to FMF, hence why they vetoed him for six months back then.

Will Vela ever play again with El Tri?

After 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Vela hasn’t been part of another call for Mexico National Team, but he’s said multiple times he’s not worried of playing again for El Tri, as he’s firstly focused on his performances with LAFC and giving his team his most on the pitch.
