Zlatan Ibrahimovic knows who is the player that can be Mexico National Team’s solution

Although El Tri played with an alternate roster given that the game was outside of a FIFA match window and the teams weren’t obliged to loan their players, Gerardo “Tata” Martino used the game to observe different players that could strengthen the usual roster.

Even if the game ended in a scoreless draw, the Argentine coach had the chance of following closely players like Jonathan Gómez, Marcelo Flores, Jordan Carrillo and Erik Lira, who are talented players but hadn’t had the chance of playing with the first team.

It’s yet to be seen of they are going to be able to make it into the final roster that Gerardo Martino takes to Qatar 2022, as some of them have more possibilities given the few players that “Tata” has for that position, while other might have to wait until 2026, especially now that a new player has decided to play for El Tri.

He decided to resign to USMNT and now wants to play for El Tri

Mexico National Team and Gerardo Martino will have a new player to consider from now on, now that a player that had rejected in the past playing for El Tri academy teams has decided to acquire the Mexican citizenship.

According to reports from Jóvenes Futbolistas MX, Cade Cowell has decided to start the process for acquiring the Mexican citizenship, given that his grandfather on his mother side was born in Mexico, hence why his mother also has the dual nationality.

The 18-year-old left-winger currently plays for MLS side San Jose Earthquakes, where he debuted in the 2020 MLS Season. Since then, he’s become a regular in the Quakes lineup, and in the current season he’s played nine games, while also scoring two goals.

His brother is already playing with El Tri academy teams

In the past, Cowell had refused to play for El Tri, as he’s been part of the US Youth National Teams from the U-16 to the U-23 and Gregg Berhalter even gave him his first cap last December, on a friendly game against Bosnia & Herzegovina. But now that his younger brother, Chance, was called to be part of the U-15 squad, the Mexican American striker decided to agree to play for El Tri too.
