The 2021-22 season still has a few weeks left to be played but teams are already preparing for the next season, as movements are starting to be confirmed, including surprises like the addition of Erik ten Hag as Manchester United’s new coach.
He went from playing for USMNT to stealing Carlos Vela’s place in Mexico National Team
The arrival of Ten Hag to the Red Devils will have implications for players like Edson Álvarez, who could follow him from AFC Ajax to the Premier League, and Cristiano Ronaldo, who doesn’t know if he will have a place in Man Utd next season.
But Álvarez is not the only Mexican player that will be on the move over the summer, as Bayern Munich are looking to add a new striker now that reports indicate that their icon player, Robert Lewandowski, already agreed to join FC Barcelona.
Lewandowski wants to leave the Bavarians before his contract expires, which will leave Bayern enough money to acquire his successor, and all reports points toward the Wolverhampton Wanderers’ striker Raúl Jiménez.
It’s worth mentioning that the 30-year-old forward was close to joining the Bundesliga team for the 2020-21 season, but the high price that Wolves had set for him, added to the fact that he wasn’t a priority addition for Bayern back then, prevented his arrival at Germany’s top flight.
But now that they need a new forward and Jiménez could use a fresh start to revive his career, Julian Nagelsmann is facing a new challenge. According to Fichajes.net, Eric Choupo-Moting is threatening to leave Bayern if they add a new striker.
The 33-year-old forward knows that if the Polish striker leaves, he’ll finally have the chance to earn the starting role, as he currently is the third striker behind Lewandowski and Thomas Müller, position in which he’ll remain if Bayern signs another forward.
Bayern Munich will be facing a crossroads once the current season is over, as the contracts of their three forwards expires in 2023. The situation is beneficial for Raúl Jiménez, as if he arrives, he will become the only forward with more than a year on his contract, making him the top choice for Nagelsmann out of the remaining strikers.
