More Mexico National Team news:
But Gerardo “Tata” Martino hasn’t found a way to make the players work as a team, something that has translated in a lack of goals from the three attackers that the Argentine coach usually starts, as neither Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, Raúl Jiménez, and Jesús “Tecatito” Coronahave scored in the 359 minutes they’ve shared on the pitch.
The lack of goals of “Chucky” Lozano is one of the things that worries the most in El Tri’s camp, as the last time he scored was in October on a game against Honduras. Since then, he hasn’t had the aim to improve his scoring streak wearing Mexico National Team colors.
But that sense of worry has also arrived at his team, as SSC Napoli has already started looking for a player that could compete with him for the starting role, as they can’t afford to have a striker that doesn’t contributes to the score sheet.
Who is the player that could arrive in Napoli?
According to reports from Il Martino, Napoli is pursuing the addition of FC Barcelona striker Memphis Depay, who can play both as a forward and as a winger, which would place him in direct competence against Hirving Lozano.
“Chucky” has scored just four goals in the 23 games he’s played for the Azzurri in Serie A, although he also found the net once in the UEFA Europa League, but he’s missed some matches due to injuries he’s suffered when playing with El Tri.
The news arrived after the poor performance he had on the second game of the World Cup Qualifiers match window, which puts pressure in Lozano for the last game he’ll play with El Tri and for the remainder of the season with Napoli.
Memphis Depay’s numbers with FC Barcelona
The 28-year-old striker arrived this season to FC Barcelonaas a free agent after playing the past four seasons in Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais. So far, Depay has played a total of 29 games for the Blaugranas, scoring 10 goals and assisting two times.
