Mexico National Team was able to beat Honduras on Sunday evening by a 1-0 score, where Edson Álvarez was the scorer of the lone goal of the game after a corner kick served by Héctor Herrera, who was out of tune form most of the game.

With the victory, they ensured to be one of the three teams with possibilities of having direct passage to Qatar 2022, although if they don’t beat El Salvador on Wednesday night, they might have to go through the playoffs before earning their ticket.

But even if the results have favored the Mexican squad, their performances have been deficient to say the least, especially since there doesn’t seem to be coordination between the three different zones of the pitch.

This has to do with the fact that some of the usual players that Gerardo “Tata” Martino calls know they have their place secured and don’t even try to improve to help the team, which is why Luis García proposed a generational change to refresh the roster.

Who are the players that could arrive?

During his participation in Los Protagonistas, Luis García criticized the performance of the Aztec squad, saying that Martino not only hasn’t found a way to make them play as a team, but also the lack of rotation and opportunities he gives to young players.

That’s why he proposed four players that have earn the right to be called and would definitely improve the performances of the Aztec squad. He started the list with Marcelo Flores, who is having a breakout season with Arsenal U-23 and is just one step away from debuting in Premier League.

Salvador Reyes, Club América’s left-back could be a good option to replace Jesús Gallardo, who hasn’t helped El Tri when he’s on the pitch. The Atlas right-back Diego Barbosa could increase the competition for Jorge Sánchez, and finally Luca Martínez Dupuy could be the answer to the lack of goals.

Can they arrive in El Tri?

All of them have played in the academy squads of El Tri and are waiting for their opportunity to debut with the senior squad in an official game, as both Marcelo Flores and “Chava” Reyes already debuted on a friendly match. Flores and Martínez Dupuy have chosen to play for El Tri even if they could represent a different national team.
