Tata Martino erases all traces of America in Mexican National Team

Mexico began its preparation for the Qatar 2022 World Cup with a friendly match against Nigeria in the United States. As is well known, a large part of the national team is made up of players who are or were trained at Club América, but Tata Martino surprisingly decided to eliminate all traces of the Águilas.

For the match that took place in Dallas, Gerardo opted for a new lineup. The intention is to try out players who have had little participation with the Mexican National Team, which is why we saw elements from Chivas, Monterrey, and Cruz Azul in the starting eleven. 

Against the Nigerians, Martino sent out the following formation: Rodolfo Cota, Erick Aguirre, César Montes, Héctor Moreno, Jesús Gallardo, Fernando Beltrán, Luis Romo, Andrés Guardado, Roberto Alvarado, Santiago Giménez and Rodolfo Pizarro.

All the Azulcrema blood was left on the bench, with Guillermo Ochoa, Jorge Sánchez, Edson Álvarez, Henry Martín, Diego Lainez, Raúl Jiménez and Sebastián Córdova waiting for a chance for the second half. 

Clearly this means that Tata Martino is testing players ahead of the World Cup because it is clear that players like Paco Memo, Jiménez, and Edson are fundamental to the Tri team that will try to make history in the Middle East.
