Mexico National Team has yet to play their last game against El Salvador, in Estadio Azteca on Wednesday night, to know if they will have direct passage to the 2022 FIFA World Cup or if they'll have to get through playoffs before earning their ticket.

At the same time, the US Soccer MNT will face Costa Rica in what will be one of the toughest games, as a defeat could make them swap places with El Tri if they tie or win against El Salvador, something that seems more than probable.

The only way in which El Tri won't have direct passage to Qatar 2022 is if they lose against the Salvadorians and Costa Rica defeats the US, added to the need of the Ticos to erase the +4-goal difference that Mexico has over them.

For now, the Mexican squad sits third in the CONCACAF Qualifiers with 25 points, the same number than USMNT, although the Stars and Stripes have a better goal difference, and Costa Rica stands 4th with 22 points. But the fact that El Tri still has to worry about different possible outcomes with just one game left to be played has FMF looking for a replacement for Gerardo "Tata" Martino.

Larcamón, the perfect replacement

Since arriving in Liga MX prior the start of Clausura 2021, over a year ago, Nicolás Larcamón has established as one of the most followed coaches in Mexican soccer given the success that he's had with Club Puebla.

Before Larcamón's stint with La Franja, they were a team that usually battled to leave the bottom of the table, but since he took over, they haven't left the top part of the standings, as the lower they've finished a season in Liga MX was fifth.

That's why he could arrive in Mexico National Team, as he knows how to make the most out of a team with evident limitations, although his request to take over El Tri might not be well received by Yon de Luisa and FMF.

What will be his request?

One of the things that Larcamón has implemented in Club Puebla is the development of young players with the first team, something that he'd be doing in El Tri, even if it meant stop calling players like Héctor Herrera or Andrés Guardado, who are the faces of the Aztec squad, a decision that El Tri sponsors might not like.
