The question now fills the minds of fans of the squad now coached by Gerardo Martino as both coaches were indeed sought after by the Mexican Soccer Federation, but for different reasons, their arrival did not materialize.

Jürgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti could have coached the Mexican National Team

The news was revealed today by different media outlets and what shocked El Tri fans the most is that the Mexican Soccer Federation actually sought the two coaches to take the reins of the Mexican team.

The situation occurred right in the process of the Mexican national team towards Russia 2018 since after the departure of Miguel Herrera the Mexican national team was left without a coach, and the FMF began the search for a new coach.

Therefore, the directors of El Tri began to sound out different coaches and to their surprise, there were 2 of the world's elite who were available for the job at that time, so negotiations began with the representatives of both coaches.

And those coaches were none other than Jürgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti, coaches who will face each other in the next UEFA Champions League final.

And while the former is now in charge of Liverpool and the latter is in charge of Real Madrid, both were at one point on the FMF's radar to coach Mexico, but for different reasons, both declined the offer.

And as a result, the one chosen by the directors who manage everything related to El Tri was Juan Carlos Osorio, with whom the Mexican national team was able to pass the group stage but, as always, was eliminated in the Round of 16 against Brazil with a 2-0 score.

Why were neither Jürgen Klopp nor Carlo Ancelotti able to coach El Tri?

According to what was revealed by the Mexican press, in the case of Klopp, when the FMF sought him out, the German coach was focused on his club career and at that time he was in charge of Borussia Dortmund.

In addition, the Dortmund coach's goal at that time was to try his luck in English soccer and his gamble worked out well since he has been one of the most dominant coaches in the Premier League with Liverpool

On the other hand, Ancelotti was about to leave Real Madrid after having a "discreet" season in which he only won a FIFA Club World Cup with Los Merengues.

And the Italian coach was looking for a break at that time, so he turned down El Tri, although shortly after he said yes to Bayer Munich. For these reasons, neither of these two elite coaches was able to become Mexico's national team strategists.
