One of the biggest soap operas in the recent history of soccer was protagonized by Kylian Mbappé, who had Real Madrid and PSG waiting for his decision for over six months, as the Frenchman was set to become a free agent at the end of the season.

Ultimately, Mbappé announced his decision of staying at PSG, as he signed a contract extension worth $466 million over the span of three more years, as he will be tied to the Parisians until 2025, leaving Real Madrid out of the picture, as they couldn’t match the offer.

As it wasn’t enough, Mbappé himself also revealed that Los Blancos were not the only team that tried to sign him, as Liverpool also started negotiations with the World Cup champion, although they were too late, as the race was already defined.

But Liverpool was not only targeting the French striker, as they are also pursuing the addition of a few players, including Mexican right-winger Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, as Napoli is looking to part ways with him, and Jürgen Klopp is interested in having.

What lesson did Lozano teach Mbappé?

Liverpool and Klopp are considering Lozano as the player that could replace Sadio Mané given that the Senegalese is entering his last year of contract and is the last chance for The Reds to sell him before he can negotiate his departure as a free agent.

According to reports from Il Mattino di Napoli, “Chucky” Lozano is considering playing in Premier League and leaving behind Serie A just months before the World Cup starts, as he knows it will help him improve his level, even if it comes with a cost.

Contrary to what Mbappé did, if the arrival of Lozano to Anfield ends up happening will be with a decrease on his salary, as he could go from earning $4.5 million, his current salary, to $3.5 million, as the reduction is something that makes him an attractive prospect for Klopp.

What’s the difference between Mbappé and Lozano’s salary?

While Lozano will earn only $3.5 million per season if he arrives at Liverpool, Kylian Mbappé will earn $155 million per season for the next three years, with a guaranteed salary of $50 million per year, although the downside of his decision is to be part of a team bound to not have success in Europe.
