México ranks in the top-10 of the teams with the most consecutive World Cups played, and the 'Tricolor' has qualified consecutively for the tournament since the 1994 edition in the United States, although that streak may come to an end if it does not qualify for Qatar 2022.

Mexico's soccer team has played in seven consecutive World Cups, which means that if it reaches this year's tournament, it will have played in eight World Cups in a row, placing it in ninth place among the teams with the most consecutive World Cups played.

Who are the national teams with the most consecutive World Cups?

However, Mexico is far from the teams with the most World Cups played in a row: Brazil owns the World Cups, not only because it has won five titles, but also because it has not missed an edition in its history, so it has 22 since it has already qualified for Qatar 2022.

Then, in second place, Germany is the team with the most consecutive World Cups played, as the Teutons have not missed a competition of this caliber since Switzerland 54. The 'Mannschaft', with its qualification for Qatar, has now reached 18 consecutive World Cups.

In third place is Argentina, and the Albiceleste have not missed an intercontinental match since Germany 74, making 13 consecutive appearances. They have already qualified for Qatar 2022.

In fourth place, Spain secured its 12th World Cup in a row after qualifying for Qatar; the European team has not missed a competition since Argentina 78. In fifth place, and perhaps surprisingly, South Korea has 10 participations after making it to Qatar 2022, and has not missed an edition since Mexico 86.

Meanwhile, England, Japan, and France have won seven editions in a row, respectively, as these three teams have earned their place since France 98 and have never missed an edition since then.

Mexico in search of its eighth consecutive World Cup

Finally, Mexico has seven participations and can reach eight, while Portugal closes the top-10 with five World Cups in a row and can reach six if it wins the UEFA playoff against North Macedonia. The Lusitanians have not failed to attend since Korea-Japan 2002.

Meanwhile, there are teams that accumulated good World Cups in a row but interrupted that streak at some point, such are the cases of Italy and Belgium, and the Italians achieved 14 consecutive World Cups between Chile '62 and Brazil 2014; however, they cut their streak for Russia 2018, when they failed to qualify.

Belgium managed six consecutive World Cups between Spain 1982 and Korea-Japan 2002, but that streak came to an end in Germany 2006, when they failed to qualify.
