Hirving “Chucky” Lozano returned to the pitches last weekend after a month of inactivity given the injury he had with Mexico National Team on the game in Estadio Azteca against Panama, on February 2, when he had to leave the pitch on a stretcher.

He preferred money but Gerardo Martino will still call him to Mexico National Team

The Mexican suffered a dislocated shoulder that prevented him from playing, and although first reports suggested he was going to miss at least eight weeks, the evolution of the injury was better than expected and it took him just over a month to return to the pitches.

And after being able to return to trainings last week, Luciano Spalletti called him for the game against AC Milan in which the first place of Serie A was at stake. Lozano played 8 minutes of the game after the Diavoli scored the lone goal of the game, but he showed why Napoli missed him, as he had the most dangerous play of Napoli on a shoot that missed the goal by a few inches.

One of the most excited to have him back was Napoli president, Aurelio Di Laurentis, who before the game started, had a meeting with the roster, where he welcomed “Chucky” back, while also completely ignored Lorenzo Insigne, who wasn’t happy with the situation.

Will Lozano stay in Napoli?

The 26-year-old right-winger is under contract with Napoli until the end of 2024, although rumors have suggested that he could leave the Azzurri in the next couple of transfer windows, as he’s been linked to La Liga clubs like Real Madrid or FC Barcelona.

With the departure of Lorenzo Insigne, Lozano has the opportunity to consolidate both in the starting XI of Spalletti and as the next idol of the Azzurri, given that they play on the same position and “Chucky” is already becoming a fan favorite.

In the past, “Chucky” Lozano has said that he feels comfortable in Napoli, which could mean that he’ll stay in the team for the moment, but he also knows that if he has an outstanding participation in the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup, he could be on the move to one of the most important European clubs, which is the only way he’d be willing to leave the Azzurri.

Insigne’s arrival in MLS

Il Capitano of Napoli is looking to end his stint with the Azzurri with a Serie A title before he joins MLS side Toronto FC, club that he’ll be part of until 2026, as he signed a 4-year deal with a salary of $12 million per season.
