Hirving “Chucky” Lozano is one of the best Mexican players that El Tri has, as he’s established himself in Europe after arriving in 2017 to Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven, where he was champion with the Boeren on the first season he played in the Netherlands.

Lozano, who got injured in the last FIFA match window, when Mexico National Team received Panama in Estadio Azteca, still is questionable to return to the pitches before the next FIFA match window arrives, although he already trained without protection in Napoli’s facilities.
“Chucky” might not be part of the last call Gerardo “Tata” Martino will have on the CONCACAF Qualifiers if he’s not fully recovered, but even if he’s not part of the roster that faces USMNT, Honduras and El Salvador, he already asked Martino for a striker that can score.
Martino has called Rogelio Funes Mori and Henry Martín as Raúl Jiménez backups, but neither of them have been able to prove why the Argentine coach has considered them to be players with the level to belong to El Tri. Instead, Lozano suggested to give Javier “Chicharito” Hernández another opportunity.
Gerardo Martino stopped calling Javier Hernández in 2019 after “Chicharito” was involved in a scandal, as he was seen sneaking women in the hotel Mexico National Team was staying, something prohibited by FMF and Martino, who has been questioned for his strict discipline in El Tri’s camp.
On his last game wearing El Tri colors, “Chicharito” scored one goal in the 3-0 victory over USMNT, proving that he’s the striker that can help El Tri finally beat the Bars and Stripes after three straight games loosing against them.
Hernández is known for being one of the most vocal players inside El Tri, as Andrés Guardado recently said in an interview. “Chicharito” was one of the players that demanded the prizes promised after Russia 2018, something that didn’t sit well in FMF.
Although Martino wasn’t on El Tri’s bench back then, he’s trying to avoid having another problem in the dressing room like the one with “Chicharito”, as he’s trying to prolong his stay as coach of the Aztec squad until 2026, which is why he’ll avoid calling him again, unless there’s no other choice.
After the 1-0 victory of LA Galaxy against MLS current champion New York City FC, where “Chicharito” scored an authentic golazo that also was the lone goal of the opening match of the 2022 MLS Season, reactions in social media didn’t take long to appear in social media.
Sergio “Checo” Pérez, F1 driver for Red Bull, posted a poll on Instagram asking if Hernández should be considered again for El Tri. La Galaxy’s accounts also answered to a tweet that El Tri posted, in which they ignored the participation of Hernández, prove that he’s vetoed from Martino’s roster.
