After the collapse of SSC Napoli last weekend, when they lost 3-2 against Empoli after being up by 2-0, not only did they lose the race for the Scudetto -they haven’t won Serie A since the 1989-90 season-, but now they will have to face a tough punishment.

The message that Hirving Lozano sent to the owner of Napoli

Both Aurelio De Laurentiis, Napoli’s owner, and Luciano Spalletti, agreed on having a permanent training retreat until the end of the season, looking to keep the roster focused on finishing the season as strong as possible, as they’re still on Champions League spots for next season.

The permanent retreat started last Tuesday and will last almost a month, as the Azzurri have yet to play four games more in the 2021-22 season. The first one will be this Saturday, when the receive Sassuolo. Then, they’ll visit Torino, receive Genoa, and will finish the season visiting Spezia.

With four games left, Napoli currently stands third in Serie A with 67 points, just one point over Juventus, who are trying to steal the third place from the Azzurri. Roma is currently fifth with 58 points and the ticket to UEFA Europa League.

Lozano decides about his future

Aurelio De Laurentiis apologized with Napoli’s followers for the terrible result that left them out of the race for the Scudetto and promised to change things in the roster for next season to make them more competitive in hopes of winning Serie A once again.

According to reports from Gazzetta dello Sports, one of those changes will be the sale of Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, who has had an irregular season since Spalletti arrived. His agent is already looking for a new club, although Lozano hasn’t decided yet where to go.

“Chucky” Lozano feels comfortable living in Italy, place where he’s lived for the last three years and where his family has already established and given that he’s under contract with the Azzurri until 2024, he expects to remain in Napoli at least until the World Cup, as he knows a good participation will open more doors for him.

He’s followed closely by Wolves

Reports suggest that Napoli already signed Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is set to be his replacement, which is why they’re looking to sell him over the summer. One of the teams that is pursuing his addition is Premier League side Wolves, who wants to reunite him with fellow Mexican striker Raúl Jiménez, a decision that could improve his performances prior to Qatar 2022.
