After being eliminated from the Champions League, things are not looking good for Cristiano Ronaldo, as Manchester United currently are out of the Premier League spots that give access for next season’s Champions League.

But Ronaldo has been involved in a few scandals in the past few days, including an aggression to a 14-year-old kid with autism, where he crashed his phone on an anger episode after Manchester was defeated by Everton.

Even if he still has one year left on his contract, Cristiano Ronaldo has threatened in the past with leaving the Red Devils if they weren’t able to earn a ticket to the Champions League, as he doesn’t want to play in the UEFA Europa League.

And now it seems like even if he was just bluffing, he’ll have to fulfill his word, maybe even against his will, as Erik ten Hag, Manchester United’s new coach, has informed Ronaldo that he’s not part of the plans he has for the 2022-23 season.

“Chucky” Lozano will replace him

One of the things that Erik ten Hag wants to establish when he arrives at Manchester United is having a younger roster that can grow together, and Ronaldo’s age -he turned 37 on February- feels like an impediment for doing that.

Another thing that Ten Hag has established in the clubs he’s coached, especially in Ajax, is making his players work as a team instead of playing for one player, something that Cristiano Ronaldo is used to and won’t stop doing.

These reasons are enough for him to leave Manchester United once the season is over and given that Napoli is looking to sell Hirving “Chucky” Lozano over the summer, he looks like the perfect replacement, as he is 26 years and a versatile player that can play either as a right-winger, left-winger and even as forward if needed.

He could join another Mexican in Manchester United

If Lozano ends up joining the Red Devils for the 2022-23 season, he might not be the only Mexican player that arrives in Manchester United, as Erik ten Hag is also pursuing the acquisition of Edson Álvarez, who is one of the most outstanding players in Ajax.
