“Chicharito” could be the striker El Tri needs, but Martino refuses to call him

One of the main problems El Tri is facing since last year is the lack of goals, as they don’t seem to find a good striker to complement Raúl Jiménez, although the issue starts on midfield, as Héctor Herrera has looked lost when he’s got the ball on recent games.

But Gerardo Martino insists on calling Rogelio Funes Mori and Henry Martín, although is more than clear that they can’t solve the problem El Tri has. It seems like their calls to El Tri are only a whim, as Martino has closed the doors to strikers like Diego Abreu.

Who is Diego Abreu?

Diego Abreu was born in Mexico when his father, Sebastián Abreu, was playing in Liga MX. He has three nationalities, Mexican, Uruguayan and Italian, although he’s played for Mexico Academy teams most of his life.

But since “Tata” arrived in El Tri, Abreu, who has scored more than 90 goals in his Academy team career, decided to play for Uruguay U-20, seeing the little opportunities the Argentinian gives to young players.
