Before 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup, he was one of Gerardo “Tata” Martino’s favorites, as he always was part of Mexico National Team, along Jesús Gallardo. But now, Martino has excluded him from El Tri and even though he’s close to leave Liga MX, he might miss 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Although he’s been questioned a lot of times for his performances, it wasn’t until a disappointing Gold Cup that Martino decided to sit Carlos Salcedo. But in the Final, after Héctor Herrera got injured, Martino’s assistant, Jorge Theiler, pressured Salcedo to jump to the pitch, something that ended up in a discussion that continued during half time in the dressing rooms, escalating to a fist fight.
But now, after been vetoed for the incident with El Tri, karma finally got him, as he scored on his on goal during Tigres game against Club Puebla that Los Felinos lost by a 2-0 score. His performance was criticized by fans all over the internet, especially as he hinted it was going to be his last game with Tigres.
Where will Salcedo play if he leaves?
Although there’s no concrete news about his departure as he was linked to multiple teams from Brazilian soccer to Turkish league, everything points out towards the MLS, as Toronto FC keeps building a squad around Lorenzo Insigne.
