During the first 70 minutes of the game, El Tri suffered more than what they needed to, but once Rogelio Funes Mori and Jesús Gallardo left the match, Martino’s team looked more dangerous and was able to score the two goals that awarded them the three points in less than two minutes.

On the press conference after the game, Gerardo Martino was questioned about El Tri’s performance, as most of Los Incondicionales and even the sports journalists felt disappointed by the way Mexico National Team played, but “Tata” preferred to focus on the score and not the image the Mexican players left on the pitch.

What can improve for the next game against Costa Rica?

El Tri only have two days to recover before facing Costa Rica in Estadio Azteca, hoping to win by an overwhelming score against Los Ticos from the pitch as they currently have one of their worst participations in CONCACAF Qualifiers in a long time.

Martino will expect to have Jiménez ready for Sunday’s game, as Funes Mori isn’t an option anymore. Gerardo Arteaga is another player that should start against Costa Rica, as Gallardo looked unsynchronized at times.
