El Tri will play on Saturday night the first of three friendly games in the upcoming week when they face Nigeria in AT&T Stadium, where the 18-year-old offensive midfielder will have the chance to prove Gerardo “Tata” Martino why he has the level to make it into the final roster.

Gerardo Martino knows that having him on the roster will be a good thing, not only for the team, as his speed and abilities with the ball are something that El Tri currently lacks, but also for him, as having the experience of going to a World Cup at his age will boost his potential.

One of Martino’s usual players will have to step down

During an interview with W Deportes, “Tata” Martino revealed that he knows that having European players in the roster is an important thing to improve the competition during training sessions, which is why he is considering calling up Marcelo Flores.

But for Flores to have a spot in the roster, one of the usual players will have to step down, being CF Monterrey Rodolfo Pizarro the one that has more probabilities of not making it into Qatar, as the 28-year-old midfielder has been irregular in the past couple of years, to say the least.
