Farewell to El Tri, the first victim after Mexico's failure against Guatemala

The Mexican Football Federation board of directors has started searching for the culprits after Mexico was defeated by Guatemala in the quarterfinals of the pre-World Cup and pre-Olympic games and has already discovered the first victim to be sacrificed.

After failing to achieve the goal and losing on penalties against Guatemala, the coach was expected to step aside. If not, Luis Pérez's future is in the hands of the Mexican Soccer Federation, headed by Yon de Luisa.

Perez signed a one-year contract and the last renewal was made in December 2021, although he has a clause in which the Mexican Soccer Federation has the authority to terminate the contract, if necessary.

Perez was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the U-20 Pre-World Cup, a tournament that provides a pass to the World Cup and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, in a World Cup cycle, towards 2026, where only the official games of the Gold Cup and Nations League remain.
