Mexico National Team might have to face the last CONCACAF Qualifiers match window at the end of March with a different roster from what Gerardo “Tata” Martino was used to have, as he will have to do some changes in order to have better chances of securing their ticket to Qatar 2022.

They will face one of the most important games since Martino took over El Tri when they receive US Soccer MNT in Estadio Azteca on March 24, as it will not only decide the future of the CONCACAF teams that will access directly to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but also Martino’s presence in El Tri for the remainder of the cycle.

And “Tata” will have to face that game with players he’s not used to have on his roster, as at least three of them might not be able to join the Aztec squad given that both Diego Lainez and Rogelio Funes Mori are dealing with lingering injuries, and Andrés Guardado was injured a couple games ago.

In addition, Mexican Football Federation prohibited the Argentine coach to call some players that were regular on his roster, as FMF consider that they don’t have the level needed to play for El Tri and that have been a liability for the past few games.

Who are the players that FMF doesn’t want to see in El Tri?

It’s no surprise that the list is filled with defenders, as Mexico National Team has been involved in several mistakes that could have costed them the games in the past FIFA match window if it wasn’t for the weak level showed by their rivals.

Tigres defender Luis “Chaka” Rodríguez is the first on the list, as he has also lost his starting role with Los Felinos given the poor performances he’s had over the past few months. Even if he was a regular for Martino, the mistakes he’s had had sealed his future out of El Tri.

The Club América right-back Jorge Sánchez is another player that won’t be part of El Tri for the games against USMNT, Honduras and El Salvador, even if he still has a protagonist role with Las Águilas, where he’s played 8 games in Clausura 2022, his level is below from what’s needed to play for the Aztec squad.

The list is closed by Monterrey defenders, Héctor Moreno and Jesús Gallardo, who have contributed to the poor performances that Rayados had with Javier Aguirre, as well as the multiple mistakes they’ve had when wearing El Tri colors.
