It’s no lie to say that Hirving “Chucky” Lozano is one of the best Mexican players of recent years, as he currently plays in one of the best leagues in Europe and has been linked to some of the best teams in the world.
'Chucky' Lozano with outstanding performance in Napoli vs Verona
“Chucky” Lozano keeps impressing with his outstanding performances both with Mexico National Team and SS Napoli, where he finally reappeared in the starting XI of Luciano Spalletti this weekend, when the Azzurri visited Hellas Verona.
This was his second game after the injury he had during El Tri’s last game against Panama in the past FIFA match window, which prevented him from playing for over a month, and even if he’s still recovering, he asked Spalletti to take him in consideration.
Spalletti didn’t have to think it twice, as that’s the kind of energy he wants from his players and gave him the starting role that Lorenzo Insigne used to have, as the Italy international is focused on not getting injured prior his arrival in Toronto FC.
It’s true that both Lozano and Insigne play the same position, winger, and that the departure of the current captain of the Azzurri will open the door to “Chucky” Lozano to become the next idol of Napoli, as Insigne has played his whole career in Napoli.
“Chucky” Lozano is ready to take over the challenge, as he knows that he might not have another opportunity like this, but he also knows that if the right offer arrives, he’ll take it, although there are few teams that can convince him to leave Italy. And FC Barcelona is one of them.
Since 2018, FC Barcelona has had “Chucky” Lozano on their radar, but his arrival in La Liga has never been this close, as there’s multiple situations that could help him be part of one of the biggest teams in the world.
For starters, his agent, Mino Raiola, has been involved in conversations with the Blaugranas, offering some of the players he manages. But the main reason that could have him wearing Barcelona colors next season is that they will need a replacement for Ousmane Dembélé, who won’t renew with the La Liga side and is playing on the last months of his contract.
Prior to the game against USMNT, Gerardo Martino already presented his resignation letter
