It’s no lie to say that, so far, Héctor Herrera has had a rough season. Not only did his call to Mexico National Team is questioned as he looks slow and out of tune with the other players, but also, he’s been relegated to the bench in Atlético Madrid.
Gerardo Martino doesn’t watch Liga MX matches and this was his excuse
Diego “Cholo” Simeone seems to have lost faith in the Mexico international, as he’s only given him minutes in 11 games of the 2021-22 La Liga Season, although he’s only started in two and has played just a total of 319 minutes.
On Sunday, Simeone’s choices were no different and Herrera started the game on the bench, but after the Colchoneros were down 4-2 on the score, “El Cholo” finally gave Herrera some playing time, as he played 15 minutes in which Atlético looked more dangerous, although they couldn’t comeback.
After Dani Alves was sent off from the game, the center of the pitch become Rojiblanca, thanks to Herrera’s performance, which was noted by the Blaugrana coach, who said they had to be careful on their attempts to score the fifth goal, as the slightest mistake that could have meant the third goal of Atleti.
