Mexico National Team hasn’t secured their ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as they lost against USMNT and Canada MNT last November in one of the worst FIFA match windows that El Tri has had in recent years.

They managed to recover from the bad results in the January games against Jamaica, Costa Rica and Panama, as they earned 7 out of the 9 available points and tied the Bars and Stripes with 21 points, although the goal difference benefits the Americans, which is why they currently stand second.

But in the last CONCACAF Qualifiers match window, Mexico National Team will receive USMNT in Estadio Azteca for what will be the most important match since Gerardo “Tata” Martino arrived in El Tri’s bench, as it will define who is going to qualify first to Qatar 2022.

But even before Gerardo Martino has announced the players that are going to be part of the game, it was confirmed that Andrés Guardado won’t be on the pitch for that game, leaving a major hole in the midfield, as he’s one of Martino’s go-to options every call.

Why is Guardado going to miss the game?

Andrés Guardado has missed Real Betis last two games due to an injury suffered a couple of weeks ago, when the Béticos received Atlético Madrid for a La Liga match in which both teams were trying to remain in the Champions League spots for next season.

Real Betis lost the game by a 3-1 score, in which the 35-year-old midfielder had to leave the game after just 10 minutes, as he suffered a muscular injury that won’t heal before the next FIFA match window, according to reports.

Who can replace him?

After the news broke about his absence on the las CONCACAF Qualifiers match window, El Tri followers pointed out that this was a great opportunity for Gerado Martino to give the chance to younger players to be part of the senior squad.

The Cruz Azul midfielder Erik Lira has been one of the most consistent players in Liga MX since he was playing for Pumas, which could be a great addition for the Aztec squad, although Marcelo Flores would also be a great contribution for the Mexican offense.
