Mexico National Team is on the brink of elimination if they don’t manage to earn the three points on tonight’s game against Panama MNT in Estadio Azteca, as a tie will place them far behind USMNT -the second standing in CONCACAF Qualifiers-, and a defeat will leave them in fourth place.

If El Tri loses against Panama, they’ll might have to face a playoff in June to determine whether if they achieve to play in the 2022 FIFA World Cup or not. And amidst the current crisis, two players already decided to call this cycle their last, suggesting they don’t believe in Gerardo Martino’s project.

But now, Alfredo Talavera joins Héctor Moreno and Guillermo Ochoa, as the players that will step down from Mexico National Team, turning his back to Gerardo Martino, who decided to call him instead of a younger goalkeeper like David Ochoa or Carlos Acevedo.

According to reports, Talavera thinks his getting close to the end of his career, and he knows he’s occupying a spot that a younger goalkeeper could take advantage of better than him, who feels his shape has diminished in the past months.
