What happens is that so far, and even though Fernando Ortiz not only saved the team but has taken them to the semifinals of the tournament, he has not been ratified by the team's sporting president.

What else does Ortiz have to do to stay at Club América?

It was just in mid-April when, according to reports in the Mexican press, the board of directors of the Águilas spoke to "Tano" Ortiz to promise him that if he took the team to the Liguilla, he would stay on as head coach of the team.

This promise, reported by several Mexican media, has not been fulfilled until today when Club América is disputing the ticket to play in the final of the tournament, a ticket it is fighting for with Pachuca

And if there is something that does not help at all, it is that the board of directors of the Azulcremas has not yet decided to appoint "Tano" as head coach, even though he not only fulfilled the task of taking the Águilas to the Liguilla but also has them fighting for the title.

And this merit increases in value when the Azulcrema management is reminded of how the club was doing in Rounds 8 and 9 of the tournament, two rounds in which the team was in last place in the overall standings, with only 6 points earned at that point in the tournament.

But once Santiago Solari took over the team, Club América improved rapidly, and together, the "Tano" and his players managed not only to get Club América out of the bottom of the standings, but also to take it to fourth place in the competition, so that the team no longer had to play in the playoffs, but had the authority and the soccer to have a direct pass to the Liguilla.

Due to these merits, it is hard to understand why Santiago Baños has not yet ratified "Tano" and it seems that another Liga MX 2022 finalist will replace Fernando Ortiz.

Banos already has Fernando Ortiz's replacement in place

According to Mexican press reports, Santiago Baños has already asked Diego Cocca, the current head coach of Atlas to see if he is interested in taking Fernando Ortiz's place at Club América.

This version of the press gained a lot of strength this Liguilla week because so far, Atlas has not renewed Cocca for next season and his contract ends just 1 month after the end of the Clausura 2022 tournament.
