According to the Mexican sports press, sources close to the player assured that there is an 80% chance that Diego Lainez will return to Liga MX to play for Club América, and his return has a very strong motive.

Since the player left to play for Betis, he has had very few minutes on the field and has realized that if he wants to be taken into account to go to the FIFA World Cup to be played in Qatar 2022, he needs more time on the field.

According to the versions spread by the Mexican media, Real Betis Balompié does not agree with the player's return to Mexico since they want to look for a team for the player in Europe, so that the process they have carried out with him is not lost.

In fact, team personnel have spoken with the player and have promised him and his representatives that they will discuss the issue of Diego Lainez's continuity with the team once the current La Liga tournament is over. 

They did not even rule out the possibility of the player remaining at the club, although this issue would have to be discussed with Manuel Pellegrini and his staff.

Thus, Lainez's representatives are also still looking for a place for the player in a European team and they assure that the fact that he has played for Club América has seduced teams from Netherlands and Portugal, although so far the only solid offer is that of the Águilas.
