Chivas are going through a crisis that only threatens to grow bigger if Amaury Vergara doesn’t do something, as El Rebaño have won just three games in Clausura 2022 and for now are out of the spots that grant access to Repechaje.
More Chivas news:
El Rebaño Sagrado currently stand 14 after 13 rounds of Clausura 2022, with 14 points that they’ve acquired from three victories, five draws and four defeats, as they have a pending match against CF Monterrey that will be played on Tuesday night.
But things for Chivas won’t get back on track as long as Marcelo Michel Leaño remains as their coach, as the Mexican coach has won only five games of the 21 that he’s been in El Rebaño’s dugout, for an efficiency percentage of 38.1%.
Amaury Vergara ignored the statistics for the first half of the season, but after El Rebaño couldn’t win the games against Club América and Atlas, he’s already pursuing the signing of Antonio “Turco” Mohamed to arrive after Clausura 2022 is over.
Antonio Mohamed won’t arrive alone
Mohamed is an old acquaintance from Liga MX, as he’s coached several teams in Mexican soccer, including Atlético Zacatepec -were he started his career as a coach-, Xolos de Tijuana, Club América and Monterrey.
Mohamed currently is coaching Atletico Mineiro, but he opened the door to returning to Liga MXto specifically coach Chivas, as he said during an interview with Fox Sports that he would like to coach El Rebaño Sagrado, although if he arrives, he won’t do it alone.
During his last stint in Monterrey, “Turco” Mohamed helped Rogelio Funes Mori play some of the best passages he’s had in Liga MX since he arrived in 2015, which is why he’d request Chivas to acquire the Rayados striker for the next season.
Funes Mori’s numbers in Liga MX
Rogelio Funes Mori arrived at Monterrey in 2015 out of Primeira Liga side SL Benfica for a transfer fee worth $4 million. Since then, “El Mellizo” has played a total of 273 games in seven seasons, scoring 135 goals and assisting 34 times.
