The performances that Chivas are having in Clausura 2022 are one of their worst participations in Liga MX recent years, as they don’t have a solid project to follow and all thanks to Marcelo Michel Leaño improvisations week after week.

Chivas is looking to add a new striker for next season, but he’s worse than Oribe Peralta

Michel Leaño has experimented in the starting XI for the whole season, something that has translated into just three victories, five draws and four defeats that have them standing 14 with the same number of points after 13 rounds.

His lack of planification has costed Chivas several points, as they don’t know how to close the games when they manage to get on the scoresheet first, as it happened last weekend against Toluca, although it also happened against Atlas and Club Puebla.

For the first half of the season, Amaury Vergara seemed to ignore the problems that Chivas was going through, but now that the threat of missing Liguilla is more real than ever, he’s looking for a new coach to replace Michel Leaño and return El Rebaño back on track.

Mohamed is ready to take over Chivas

Although he coached Club América in the past, Antonio “Turco” Mohamed has surged as the best option to coach El Rebaño Sagrado for the 2022-23 season, as he wants to return to Liga MX and even said he wants to coach a team like Chivas.

During an interview with Fox Sports, Mohamed said that he is interested in coaching Chivas, and that Marcelo Michel Leaño started conversations with him a few years ago, although they didn’t transcend as they were looking for different things back then.

But now that Chivas is going through one of the biggest crises in years, he’d be willing to arrive at Chivas, as he’s not motivated by the money but to make them a competitive team once again and give them a new Liga MX title, something that Chivas have been lacking since 2017.

Mohamed’s numbers in Liga MX

After he retired in 2003, Antonio Mohamed started his coaching career that same year with Atlético Zacatepec. Since then, he’s coached several teams in Mexico, Argentina, Spain and now Brazil, including Xolos de Tijuana, Club América and CF Monterrey, teams where he managed to win a Liga MX title.
