After Chivas couldn’t keep the advantage on their visit to Toluca, on a game that Los Diablos Rojos ended up tying with a last-minute goal from Leo Férnandez, it became more than evident that El Rebaño Sagrado needs to strengthen their squad for next season.

Tragedy in Mexican soccer: this Chivas idol passes away

It’s yet to be seen of Marcelo Michel Leaño will remain as the coach of Chivas for next season or if they will look for a new coach, but Amaury Vergara knows that the road to returning to the front pages of Liga MX is uphill.

With his goal against Toluca, José Juan Macías tied Ángel Zaldivar as the strikers with more goals scored for Chivas in the season, with two each one, a poor production for a team that has been mismanaged by Michel Leaño.

Chivas followers are asking for a new striker, something that Amaury Vergara is already working into for the next season. The problem now is that, while El Rebaño fans were asking for a top striker like Javier “Chicharito” Hernández, Vergara is negotiating with someone that’s worse than Oribe Peralta.

Who is the striker that Chivas will sign for Apertura 2022?

Just like it happened with Ángel Reyna and later with Oribe Peralta, Chivas will look to sign a former Club América striker after his best years have already passed, instead of looking for someone that can actually contribute to the team.

According to different sources, Club América won’t wait any longer for Henry Martín to get out of the bad streak he’s going through and will sell him once Clausura 2022 is over, and Chivas is one of the teams interested in acquiring him.

So far, Henry Martín has played 11 games of the current season, where he’s scored two goals and assisted the same number of times, although the last time he scored was in February, on the 3-1 defeat of Las Águilas against CF Pachuca.

Will Martín arrive at Chivas?

During the winter transfer window, Emlio Azcárraga stated in the past that the rivalries stay on the pitch, and if both teams agree to negotiate between them, he wouldn’t block the departure from a player to their biggest rival in Liga MX.
