The crisis in Club América keeps growing as they haven’t been able to win in over a month when they visited Santos Laguna. Since then, Las Águilas have three defeats and three draws, results that had Santiago Solari leave the club.

But even after two games with Fernando “Tano” Ortíz as interim coach, Club América hasn’t showed any signs of improvement, as they lost against Monterrey and then managed to save a draw in Clásico Nacional, when they visited Chivas last weekend.

It’s yet to be seen how long does Las Águilas manage to hold “Tano” Ortíz on the bench if they don’t start winning, because even if reports are pointing towards the signing of Nicolás Larcamón for the next season, the Azulcremas will have to find a replacement sooner if thing don’t change in the next few games, although it seems they’re ready to tank this season and forget it as soon as possible.

According to reports from Fox Sports, Santiago Baños already had the first conversations with Nicolás Larcamón to make him the next coach of Las Águilas, as América is set to have the Argentine coach on their dugout for Apertura 2022.

Will he arrive in Club América?

Although Larcamón is focused on finishing Clausura 2022 with Club Puebla on the best possible shape -currently they stand second, just one point behind Club Pachuca-, he already has some requests to start shaping Las Águilas roster for next season.

First of all, he asked Santiago Baños to have freedom to build the roster as he likes, as he knows that some of the players that Solari had were imposed. Which also opens the door for his second request: the players that will leave América once Clausura 2022 is over, although he hasn’t yet given out a list of the names that won’t be part of the Azulcremas next season.

The players he’d have from Club Puebla

Larcamón knows that Las Águilas need a striker that can actually score, unlike Henry Martín and Roger Martínez, who have been irregular at best, which is why he’d arrive in El Nido with Fernando Aristeguieta, who currently has 5 goals in Clausura 2022.

The Argentine coach will also reunite Israel Reyes with Salvador Reyes, who were essential for the third place La Franja achieved on the first tournament of Larcamón in Mexican soccer. Finally, he’d have Antony Silva in América’s goal, as Guillermo Ochoa will leave at the end of the year.
