Another big addition for the 2022 Clausura tournament could be completed in the next few hours. Monterrey is close to reaching an agreement with Inter Miami, the club of Rodolfo Pizarro. As usual, northern clubs such as Monterrey or Tigres have the economic strength to bring players from MLS or Europe.

Different media outlets such as Mediotiempo or As stated that the Tampico native has accepted Rayados proposal to defend Monterrey colors again. The former Pachuca and Chivas player was Liga MX champion and Concachampions winner with Rayados in 2019 before his stint with Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer.

Rodolfo Pizarro arrived at Inter Miami as a Designated Player and the MLS club expected more from the Mexican player but in his second season, the footballer did not have good performances. The departure of the former coach of Inter Miami Diego Alonso did not help the player who lost protagonism in the Miami side.

Pizarro to take a pay cut

Monterrey’s proposal to Pizarro has certain conditions such as supporting the club economically and being 100% focused on the aims that the northern team wants to achieve. The way that Rodolfo could help with the conditions is by reducing his salary and being in shape for the 2022 Clausura tournament and FIFA Clubs World Cup.

According to TUDN, the player is willing to lower his salary by up to 70%. Pizarro´s Inter Miami salary was USD 3.35 million per year. David Beckham´s “fortune” was received by the Mexican player. The England ex-soccer player is the main shareholder of the MLS team. The agreement between the MLS club and Monterrey will not be for a definitive purchase but for a loan. The term of the loan is still pending. It is believed that it will be for one or two years.

One of Pizarro's objectives is to return to the Mexican national team

The main reason why the player is accepting the conditions proposed by the Monterrey board is that Rodolfo wants to improve his soccer to regain his place in the Mexican national soccer team and be in his best shape for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Monterrey's latest acquisition

As Aguirre´s boss has said he had not had a deep roster, Rayados board has already brought midfielder Luis Romo but Charly Rodríguez went to Cruz Azul in exchange for the former Cementero player.

Alexis Vega is also on Monterrey's agenda

To make happy the former coach of Mexico and Egypt, the Monterrey board is looking for the Chivas left-winger Alexis Vega who had an impressive performance in the last Olympic Games.

However, the Chivas player's last tournament was not as incredible as the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. One of the biggest friends of Alexis is gone as he arrived to La Máquina for the 2022 Clausura tournament. The Chivas executive board is trying to renew Vega´s contract but the player seems not to be interested, and the way the Chivas board has managed the team could be a reason the player wants to leave.

Rayados wants to convince Chivas to sell the player to them before Vega could negotiate on a free transfer in July for any club.
