Marcelo Michel Leaño couldn’t keep his job for at least one full season given the poor results that he got with Chivas on the 22 games that he coached, and was sacked after 13 rounds of Clausura 2022, where he left El Rebaño out of the playoff spots.

His lack of planification and the lack of a solid long-term project were more than evident the first game that El Rebaño Sagrado played with Ricardo Cadena as their coach instead of Michel Leaño, as they were able to beat Cruz Azul 1-0 playing in Estadio Azteca.

With that victory, Chivas were able to return to the Repechaje spots, as they now stand 11 with 17 points after 14 rounds, and even if they haven’t guaranteed their presence in Liguilla, the objective seems attainable now that Cadena has changed the face of El Rebaño.

Ricardo Cadena was coaching Chivas’ reserves team, CD Tapatío from Liga de Expansión, and will finish the season in El Rebaño’s dugout while Amaury Vergara and Ricardo Peláez negotiate the arrival of a new coach.

Who is the coach that will arrive at Chivas?

Even if Matías Almeyda recently said that he would never close the door to Chivas and that it will be a dream come true to return to El Rebaño for a second stint, Ricardo Peláez knows that if the Argentine coach returns, he will have his days numbered in Chivas.

That’s why he’s looking for another option, one that he proposes and guarantees his stay in El Rebaño, but by doing it he’d also be looking to boost the academy players, as what Nicolás Larcamón has done in Puebla would be potentiated in Chivas.

Larcamón wants to establish a long-term project in which he can feed the first team with younger players, something vital for the success of Chivas, as they have the limitation of not being able to acquire non-Mexican players.

How much will it cost to sign Larcamón?

For the current season, some of Chivas games have been transmitted in TV Azteca, owner of Club Puebla, who can intercede on behalf of El Rebaño for them to acquire the Argentine coach for the same release clause established on his current contract, $900,000, as La Franja are planning on renewing him once Clausura 2022 is over.
