Oribe Peralta will leave retirement to join this Liga MX club

Oribe Peralta decided to retire on the day of his 38th birthday after parting ways with Chivas and not finding a team to join for Clausura 2022. Although he received some offers from lower divisions and Central American clubs, he decided that it was time to leave the pitches.

Although during his last two and a half years, the time he was a Chivas player, Oribe didn’t have the chance to prove why he became an idol with both Club América and Santos Laguna, where he played for most of his career, although he debuted with Monarcas Morelia.

Peralta played for 19 years in Mexico’s top flight, although it took him six years to finally have regularity with one team, Santos, where he played for five years before arriving in Club América, where he also had a 5-year stint.

But now, just a few months after his retirement, Peralta has been contacted again to return to the pitches for the Clásico Nacional, especially as he’s been one of the last players that has played for both El Rebaño Sagrado and Las Águilas.

 

Will he play for either Chivas or América?

Although any team could register Peralta, as he was a free agent before February 1st, the Mexico former international won’t be wearing the colors of any of the teams. Instead, he’ll be part of the Clásico Nacional as a TV analyst.

According to their social media accounts, Oribe Peralta will be a special guest in the transmission that Chivas TV, El Rebaño’s streaming platform, given the history he has with the two teams, although he’s not remembered fondly by Chivas followers.

Peralta couldn’t shine wearing El Rebaño’s colors, as he was usually involved in mistakes when the team needed him the most, although he barely played, which is why Chivas followers didn’t seem too amused to have him back in Estadio Akron.

 

Peralta’s numbers with both Chivas and América

Oribe Peralta arrived in Club América in 2014 out of Santos Laguna, where he already had earned a name in Mexican soccer. With Las Águilas, Peralta played a total of 216 games, in which he scored 77 goals and assisted 27 times. With Chivas, Peralta only played 40 games, scoring two goals, and assisting three times.
