For Clausura 2022, Club América have the worst start in recent years, as the only earned six points in nine games as a result of one victory and three ties. But in the las two games prior the FIFA match window, they were able to save a draw in the Clásico Nacional and then beat Toluca.

The salary that Guillermo Ochoa wants to remain in Club América

Since parting ways with Santiago Solari, who was sacked after eight rounds of the current season, they temporarily promoted Fernando “Tano” Ortíz from the U-20 squad to the senior squad, and even if they didn’t say for how long he would stay, it’s safe to say that he will remain in Las Águilas dugout for the remainder of the season.

With “Tano” Ortíz, Las Águilas have slowly changed their playing style, having more freedom both on the pitch and in the locker room, as the pressure that was built when Solari was still coaching them was palpable even through the screen.

There’s still a lot to change in order to be able to reach at least the spots that give access to Repechaje, but Emilio Azcárraga will have the last six games of the season to find a new coach, and everything is pointing towards Nicolás Larcamón.

Can Larcamón arrive in El Nido?

According to reports from sports journalists Jonathan Peña and Miguel Arizpe, Las Águilas are only waiting for Clausura 2022 to be over to announce Nicolás Larcamón as their new coach, as they even are willing to pay the release clause that Club Puebla set on his contract.

Club Puebla are currently third in Liga MX and even if they tried to retain the Argentine coach, the offer made by Las Águilas was impossible to refuse, as they will pay the $900,000 La Franja is asking to start negotiations with Larcamón.

But Azcárraga knows that there’s a big difference going from coaching a team like Puebla to one of the biggest in Liga MX like América, which is why he will also sign Daniel “Ruso” Brailovsky, who will help Larcamón to back up his project.

What can Brailovsky contribute?

“El Ruso” knows the institution, as he was part of América as a player and then as a coach. That’s why Azcárraga trusts him to be the sporting director that Las Águilas have been lacking, as well as the hierarchy needed in the locker room while Larcamón adapts to his new challenge.
