Club América is going through one of their worst participations in Liga MX, at least since the short tournaments were established in 1996, as Las Águilas have won just one game and tied another in the six rounds played in Clausura 2022.
Santiago Solari will be leaving Club América if they lose against Pumas
The crisis in which Club América is into started on the last matches of Apertura 2021, when they lost against CF Monterrey in the final of CONCACAF Champions League. Since then, it took them over 100 days to be able to win another game.
This weekend, they will face Pumas in Ciudad Universitaria, where they’ll have the most difficult game of the season, not only because it’s the Clásico Capitalino, but also because Pumas eliminated them on quarterfinals last season, and if they don’t win, Santiago Solari could be having his last minutes in Las Águilas dugout.
Emilio Azcárraga is not happy with the performances that Las Águilas have had in Clausura 2022, but according to sports journalist Jonatan Peña, he already talked with the roster, where he found out that some of the players don’t like Solari’s coaching system and are expecting him to get fired.
According to Jonatan Peña, Bruno Valdez is one of the players that doesn’t agree with Santiago Solari on the dressing room, which is why he hasn’t played on the same level that he used to before the Argentine coached arrived in Las Águilas.
Both Richard Sánchez and Roger Martínez agree with Bruno Valdez, as they think Las Águilas would be better without Solari on Club América’s dugout. Coincidentally, they are two of the players that have mistaken the most on the pitch.
Azcárraga knows that the recent results don’t benefit Santiago Solari, who will have to leave El Nido unless he finds a way to turn thing around. But he also will sell Sánchez, Martínez and Valdez once the season is over, as the players can’t be the ones taking decisions over the coach.
Emilio Azcárraga is not only looking to replace Santiago Solari, but also Santiago Baños
