When Clausura 2022 had already started, Jonathan “Cabecita” Rodríguez informed Juan Reynoso and Cruz Azul that he no longer wanted to be part of La Máquina and that a Saudi Arabian team was interested in him. Days later, he ended joining Al-Nassr FC on a permanent move for $6 million.

Cruz Azul adds their new striker, Iván Morales, out of from Colo-Colo

Cruz Azul is still trying to figure out who will fill the spot “Cabecita” Rodríguez left on their offense, and it seems they found their answer in Chilean striker Iván Morales. But for the 28-year-old Uruguayan forward, things seem to not be working out as he thought they’ll be, as he now lost his spot with Los Charrúas.

New Uruguay National Team coach Diego Alonso, decided to call Nicolás “Diente” López instead of Rodríguez to be Uruguay’s third striker behind Edson Cavani and Luis Suárez, as he thinks López is in better shape and has better abilities than “Cabecita”.

Who had a better performance in Apertura 2021?

It seems like Diego Alonso was right about calling “Diente” López instead of “Cabecita” Rodríguez, as the Tigres player was part of 14 games last season, where he scored 9 goals and assisted 2 times. On the other hand, former Cruz Azul player only had activity on 11 games, and he only was able to score 3 times.
