Chilean national team player Iván Morales will report to Cruz Azul after the FIFA date to compete directly with Santiago Giménez and Bryan Angulo for the "9" spot.

Almost at the same time that defender Luis Abram landed in Mexico to finalize the terms of his deal with Cruz Azul, the "yes" from Colo-Colo finally arrived from Chile for the offer that La Máquina put on the table for striker Iván Morales.

Called up to the Chilean national team, Morales will travel to Mexico to sign his contract with Cruz Azul until he is released from La Roja's training camp, which will face Argentina on January 27 at home and Bolivia on February 1, as part of the CONMEBOL qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.

Cruz Azul to pay almost half a million for the player

According to ESPN, this Sunday morning, the board of directors of the Chilean team, by a split decision, accepted the offer of just over US$400,000 made by Cruz Azul for the transfer of the 22-year-old Chilean national team player.

ESPN Mexico revealed last Thursday the formal offer from the Cementero team and this Sunday confirmed with Cruz Azul sources the definitive agreement reached for 'Tanquecito' Morales, who arrives in definitive purchase and with a 3 or 4-year contract, subject to finalizing the last contractual details with the player.

Morales has played five games with Chile's senior national team and even scored a goal against Mexico in the friendly on December 8 in Austin, Texas, which ended 2-2. With Colo-Colo he scored 11 goals and had 4 assists in 27 games, 26 of them as a starter, during 2021 in the Chilean tournament.

The 22-year-old 'Tanquecito' came to be considered Colo-Colo's most promising youth player, but for personal reasons he did not renew his contract with the team, which expires on June 30, so he would have left for free in the summer if his club did not sell him now.

The player no longer counts for Colo-Colo's Argentine coach, Gustavo Quinteros, who even released 'Tanquecito' Morales on Friday so that he could concentrate with the Chilean national team, despite the fact that this Sunday he faced his first official game of the year against Universidad de Chile.

Once this FIFA Day is over, the 22-year-old center forward will travel to Mexico to join La Máquina Celeste and be the direct competition of Santiago Giménez and Bryan Angulo for the "9" position.
