After three straight victories, Club América has finally left the bottom of the table and is on track to earn a spot in Repechaje, as they currently have 16 points after 13 games, which have placed them in the 11 spot of Clausura 2022.

He gifted Club América a victory and now he’ll be his next addition

With Santiago Solari, Las Águilas won just one game, which got him sacked after eight rounds, leaving the Azulcremas at the bottom of the table with just six points. But since Fernando “Tano” Ortíz arrived, Club América had a change of 180 degrees.

“Tano” Ortíz has coached just five games in Mexico’s top flight, but his record is impressive, as he’s won three games, tied another one and lost just one game, although he knows that they need to keep the good streak going if they want to be in the playoffs.

One of the best ways to keep up with the good results is increasing the competitiveness, something that he has managed to do by promoting players from the U-18 and U-20 squads to the first team, and given the good results they’ve had, he’s considering keeping them for good at the expense of some of the players in the current roster.

Bruno Valdez will be one of the sacrificed

In order to open up some spots in Las Águilas roster, Club América will have to part ways with some of the players that currently are in the squad, especially the ones that have been involved in several mistakes during the season.

Following that idea, Bruno Valdez will be one of the first to leave El Nido, as the 29-year-old Paraguayan center back has focused more on attacking than prioritizing his position as defense, something that Ortíz knows will need to improve for next season.

Santiago Baños already said that Valdez will leave at the end of the year, giving them time to look for a replacement that will come from outside the team, as Guillermo Ochoa is convincing Baños to pursue the addition of Adrián Mora, FC Juárez defender that was part of El Tri U-23 squad that won the bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Ortíz will promote two academy players

The Argentine coach knows that he needs to strengthen the offense, as neither Henry Martín nor Roger Martínez have been able to solve the lack of goals they’ve had in Clausura 2022, which is why he’ll promote Iker Moreno and Esteban Lozano.
