So far, Cruz Azul is having a good season, as they are standing fifth after 10 rounds of Clausura 2022, where they’ve won five games, lost three more and saved a draw in the remainder two, resulting in 17 points that have them competing at the top of the table.

If that wasn’t enough, they’re still alive in CONCACAF Champions League, where they will face Pumas UNAM on the semifinals in April, after they defeated Canadian side Forge FC in the round of 16 and MLS side CF Montréal in the quarterfinals.
All the results are more impressive if taken into consideration the fact that with the game they play this weekend against CF Pachuca, they’d faced 12 games in less than two months, playing two games weekly since the second week of February.
That hasn’t stopped the problems that La Máquina is having internally since Jaime Ordiales returned to Cruz Azul, and even if Juan Reynoso has helped them to keep their hopes on in both comptetitions, he doesn’t have his place secured for the next season. Along him there’s a player that wants to leave given the tension inside Los Cementeros facilities.
Even if he’s usually considered by Reynoso on his starting XI, the Ecuadorian Brayan Angulo is considering leaving Cruz Azul, not only because of the problems between the group and the sporting director, but because the relationship with La Máquina followers is broken.
Since his arrival in Cruz Azul, Angula hasn’t been able to adapt as he wished to the needs of La Máquina and the differences of Mexican soccer, which is why he’s contemplating leaving Los Cementeros at the end of the season, when his contract expires.
It hasn’t been confirmed yet, as he’s one of Reynoso’s favorite players, as he’s started in seven games of Clausura 2022, where he’s scored just one goal and given two assistances, although on the last two games he has stayed on the bench.
But according to reports from Ecuadorian sports media Ecuagol, Brazilian side Santos FC have “Cuco” Angulo on their radar, as the 26-year-old forward could be a good addition on the offense, and his arrival could mean a fresh start and a new chance for his career that seems stuck for now in Cruz Azul.
