Santiago Solari couldn’t help Club América leave the bottom of the table and was sacked after eight rounds of Clausura 2022, where Las Águilas have won just one game and tied three more, leaving them with just six points.

If he arrives in Club América, Nicolás Larcamón will bring this player with him from Club Puebla

This weekend, they will face Chivas in the Clásico Nacional, in what will be their second game without Solari on the bench and the first one where Fernando “Tano” Ortíz had a full week training with the first team, as he only had two days to train last weekend, when they lost 2-1 against Monterrey.

Ortíz was named as interim coach until Santiago Baños and Emilio Azcárraga decided who to hire, and rumors keep pointing to Nicolás Larcamón, who currently is coaching Club Puebla. La Franja, opposite to Club América, are having one of the best seasons since the short tournaments were established.

What is more impressive is the thing he has managed to achieve in his short coaching career, as he’s always been part of clubs that don’t have the money or the spotlight like the one that América has, but he’s helped all of them to become protagonists.

Will they sign Larcamón?

That’s why in Club América they were hoping to sign him at the end of the season, as Larcamón has said that he’s currently focused on his present with La Franja, but at the end of the season, if any club pays his release clause, he might be willing to move.

But Las Águilas might not be willing to wait for him, as Puebla is trying to increase his release clause, and already started looking for a potential replacement. Reports suggest that it didn’t take them long to find the perfect coach.

Who will arrive in Club América?

Former FC Barcelona and Real Betis coach, Quique Setién, has been linked to Club América in the past week, as the Spanish coach is currently without a job and is ready to continue his coaching career, making him one of the best fits for Las Águilas.

According to reports, both parties have been in conversations to see if their plans align, something that it seems that will happen, as América wants to continue establishing a European model inside the club, and Setién could return to the spotlight with one of Mexico’s biggest clubs.
