Nicolás Larcamón took Liga MX by surprise after he arrived in 2021 with one of the modest clubs of Mexican soccer. Although he only needed six months to earn a name in Mexico, as he helped Club Puebla finish third that season, he has done nothing but improve La Franja.

The Club Querétaro players that can arrive in Club América next season

Puebla were eliminated in Apertura 2021 by Club León in quarterfinals, falling short from the result they earned the season before, when they reached the semifinals of Liguilla. But for Clausura 2022, Larcamón and his “Larcaboys” are ready to win the Liga MX title, as they remain undefeated after nine rounds.

Not only that, but they have also managed to comeback against Chivas in Estadio Akron and have one of the best defenses of the season, as they’ve only received seven goals. Larcamón has also managed to earn 21 points, making Puebla the first team classified to Liguilla.

In Club América, things are going the other way around, as they have won just one game and have six points after nine rounds, which is why parted ways with Santiago Solari and are looking for a new coach, and given the results Larcamón has had, they’re willing to pay his release clause.

Can Larcamón arrive in América?

Although reports suggest that the Argentine coach already has a pre agreement with Club América to arrive at the end of the season, Las Águilas will have to pay his release clause, set at $900,000, to make it happen, as Larcamón is under contract with Club Puebla until December.

It’s yet to be seen if América can endure the rest of the season without a coach, as the team didn’t improve in the only game they’ve had with Fernando “Tano” Ortíz as their interim coach, given they lost 2-1 against CF Monterrey, who are also amidst a crisis.

But if they manage to finish the season with “Tano” Ortíz on the dugout, Larcamón will become their next coach, although he won’t arrive by himself in El Nido, as he knows that Las Águilas need a striker that can actually score, which is why he would convince Santiago Baños to also hire Fernando Aristeguieta.

Aristeguieta’s numbers in Mexico

The 29-year-old Venezuelan striker arrived in Liga MX in 2019 for Monarcas Morelia, who after a year became Mazatlán FC. Aristeguieta played a year with Los Cañoneros before arriving in Club Puebla in the current season.

In the three seasons he’s played in Mexico’s top flight, Aristeguieta has played 90 games so far, 37 with Morelia, 31 with Mazatlán and 22 with Puebla. He’s scored 23 goals, six of them with Puebla, although 5 of them have been in Clausura 2022, where he’s on the battle to be the golden boot of the season.
